We are going to say this loud and clear, The key to weight loss is calories in vs calories out.

Now while that sounds simple enough and there are lots of arguments and studies to suggest that it's not the case. The truth is at a genetic level that's how our bodies operate but there are a number of variables for individuals that it's just not enough.

Our goal with The Man Shake is to provide the tools for you to take your weight loss journey into your own hands so that you can keep the weight off for good!

You do that by understanding what food does to your body and educating yourself on what your body needs and how much to hit your goal weight and stay there. One of the best ways to do this is to focus on HIGH PROTEIN foods as they not only keep you fuller for longer but will also help you build muscle and burn more fat on a daily basis.

We have shortlisted 10 of our favourite high protein snacks that will keep you on track and kicking goals.

All these snacks we have listed are available at your local Coles or Woolworths and we are not affiliated with any of these products or have received any samples or payment, they're just delicious!

Beef jerky is a great snack to have on The Man Shake and stay on track. But not all beef jerky is created equal, with some having super high levels of sodium and other hidden ingredients.

So we recommend Kooee Snack jerky because it’s made from premium Australian beef, low in sugar, it contains no artificial colours or flavours, no preservatives and is only 97 calories per serve!

There are so many good brands of Jerky out there so do your research or think about making your own at home.

We have always been big fans of YoPRO and Chobani fit. However, Yopro has just released "Perform" which has a massive 20g of protein and 6.3 sugar. Not only that it's packed with BCAA's (helps with muscle fatigue) probiotics and no artificial sweeteners.

In short they have packed a lot into a simple tub of yoghurt.

Protein bars are one of the best tools to have in your lunch box.

Not only does it feel like you're having a choccy bar and crushes your sweet cravings but it's actually helping you lose more weight! Just make sure you always check the label for sugar content vs protein because there are a number of bars on the market that should be called sugar bars not protein.

Now The Man Bar is everything you need in a protein bar and you can get them cheaper with the Buy 2 get 1 free pack!

We understand that on the program you can get a bit over drinking your meals all the time. That's why we don't normally promote any soups but the Strength Meals co are in a different league!

We stumbled upon them at our local woolies and were blown away with the "Smoky pea & Ham" with 25.8g of protein and only 249 calories. It's nice and thick to so it feels like you're eating more.

Every time you hear "John West" you can't not hear "It's the best". You can thank years of advertising for that one but the point is it's absolutely true.

Made with all natural ingredients, John West Protein + Calcium packs both goodness and flavour in one convenient can. Rich in calcium, high in protein and omega-3 plus dairy free, it's a great go-to snack or meal base.

Each can has 15g of protein and only 120 calories, with the new Protein + calcium range you also get 100% RDI of calcium!

Every week there is always something new and exciting coming out trying to solve our snacking problems.

Roar are a simple "Protein Pack" on the go with multiple variations but our pick is the Lean chicken, almonds and cheese pack. They are super convenient and requires zero thinking when you get peckish.

This pack has 16.9g of protein and 280 calories, now at $4 a pop you're paying for convenience and portion control. However if you plan ahead at shopping (and could be bothered) you could create your own protein packs for the week ahead. Just be mindful of portion sizes so you don't over do it.

Of course we picked the one called "Beer Mix"

Majan's Bhuja mix has been around for some time but they recently came out with the "Beer Mix" and you know they now have our attention!

They offer a great range of different mixes but they are not all equal. The beer mix is great for pre packing little bags for smoko or having watching the footy on a Friday night.

Now the beer mix is slightly higher in calories at 168 cals per 30g serve but they also come with 6g of protein and they are delicious. Just keep an eye on portion sizes because you can always get carried away!

Yes we realise you're not 7 years old but these stringers can go in your kids lunch box and yours!

Bega has been making cheese for over 100 years of dairying heritage resulting in the unique taste you know and love. 4 Natural ingredients, proudly Australian owned, no artificial colours or flavours, 100% natural and preservative free.

Each stringer is only 62 calories with 5g of protein per stick! The boys at work might make jokes about you at smoko but you will have the last laugh when you're dropping kegs and eating well!

Pumpkin seeds are one of the best protein packed veggie snacks, problem is they're not that inviting!

Munchme has come up with the pumpkin seed clusters that are packed with natural ingredients to keep you powered through the day. They also have a range of different health based snacks that are good to mix up your weekly rotation.

Each serve (5 pieces) is only 112 calories with 6g of protein per serve.

We are not sure how you feel about chickpeas but we are BIG fans.

These little buggers have risen to fame via "The Manshakers" facebook group for a go to snack. When the boys started raving about them we had to take a closer look.

The classic, Lightly Salted CHICKPEAS contain three ingredients – and that’s all! A deliciously crunchy, satisfying snack of slow-roasted chickpeas, lightly seasoned with sea salt and a hint of garlic that will have you coming back for more. They also have a great range of flavours and have pre packed serves making it even easier for work.

They are gluten, nut and dairy free, vegan friendly and Australian owned and grown.

If you grab the pre packed (6 x 25g bags) it works out at only 105 calories per bag and 4.4g of protein which make a worthy snack anytime of the day.
