A brief backstory on your health and how you think you got to such a point.

My weight gain was from a combination of working long hours, doing overnight shift work and a very poor diet. I wasn’t really thinking about what I was putting into my body, the amount of sugar I was consuming and the complete lack of exercise didn’t help either. My gut health was terrible to the point of me thinking I was Lactose Intolerant.

Was there a significant moment or point that you had decided to take the first step?

I think the moment I decided to take the next step was while I was at work, I think I was called fat twice that day and when someone rubbed my belly and asked me why I had put on so much weight, I guess it just flicked something in my head.. I had to do something.. enough was enough.

Why is it important to you to lose weight and be healthy?

I just want a better life, to not be held back by weight. To be able to walk to the top of a set of stairs without being puffed out. If I kept going the way I was going I would have ended up with some serious health issues.

How did you find The Man Shake?

I was sitting in traffic looking around thinking about how hungry I was, I looked over at a bus and saw an advertisement for KFC and I decided that was what I wanted. I remembered I had already had McDonalds for breakfast that morning and thought back to the night before about people making comments about my weight, I looked over at the KFC bus again as it pulled away and noticed another bus beside it with a picture of Adam on it, it had the advertised sign for “The Man Shake”. I pulled into Coles and walked down the aisle and saw The Man Shake box sitting there, I guess it was just a, ‘stuff it.. why not’ moment.. so I bought it.

What other methods had you tried to lose weight before turning to The Man Shake?

I tried other meal replacement drinks which were all disgusting and never made me full which lead to me snacking a lot. I tried to do some walking and exercise but just couldn’t stay motivated.

What was your biggest roadblock to getting healthier and how did you overcome it?

My biggest roadblock was probably my gut health. Most diet things gave me terrible acid reflux and finding time through a busy work schedule to be active whilst getting out of bad eating habits and dropping the soft drink. Once I started on Adams shakes it was easy to kick the soft drinks due to the amount of water I was drinking and because of the support of the online groups through Man Shake.

I've now lost 35kg with The Man Shake

What is the biggest difference now that you have lost some weight and how do you feel?

The biggest difference for me after losing weight is the confidence boost it’s given me, not having to suck my stomach in, going down pant and shirt sizes is something I never thought I would do again. I’m down from a 42 to a 36 in pants and from a 2XL to an L in shirts.

My cravings have completely disappeared and I feel great! Completely kicked the soft drink and premix juices so now I have so much more energy, so much more focused mentally and physically and I haven’t felt this good for a very long time.

Why would you recommend The Man Shake to other people?

I’ve recommended The Man Shake to three of my friends so far that have jumped on board and absolutely love it! It gives people the ability to shape their own futures. It makes it easy to diet and not have to drink kale shakes for ever meal. It gives a sense of normality to your life with a discrete way to get back on track. You’re not standing there blending up 30 fruits and vegetables and having to explain yourself to everyone.. you’re just having a shake and It makes losing weight super easy.

Are you going to continue on the shakes as a part of a healthy breakfast or maintaining your weight?

I have no plans to stop using The Man Shake, even though I’m smashing my goals, and getting down to the weight I want to be, I think it really helps to give you a sense of routine and normality in your life and to stay on track with your health goals.

If someone is out there thinking about starting what would you say to them to motivate them?

I never thought I could 20kg, let alone 35kg, I thought that I was just going to be ‘Big Fella’ for the rest of my life. If I can say one thing to you, I’ve never felt better! You should never give up, go and grab a sample pack and give the shakes a go, what do you have to lose? Only your weight.
